About the Roman Art from the Louvre:
Although Roman Art is found in many museums throughout the world, the Louvre collection is in a class by itself. The Roman Art showcase includes nearly two hundered objects of Roman art (the largest collection from a single department of the Louvre to have ever been on loan in the US).
About the The Gates of Paradise
Ghiberti's Renaissance panels from the doors of the Baptistry in Florence, Italy are now restored after a 25-year long conservation effort. They have never traveled to the US before and Seattle is one of only four cities in the US where this exhibit will be seen before returning to Florence permanently and reinstalled in the massive bronze doors in Florence.
Art Historian Sarah Berman is the Collections Coordinater/ Reserach Associate of the Seattle Art Museum. She will present an overview of the exhibit for the Stanford Club of Washington.
