Details

The SCW has arranged for a guided tour of the latest exhibit at the Frye Art Museum:
Henry Darger

Highlights from the American Folk Art Museum.

Henry Darger (1872 - 1973) is best known for his massive illustrated epic about a world torn apart by war: The Story of the Vivian Girls, In what Is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion (aka: In the Realms of the Unreal for short). The museum's website characterizes it as a story of war and peace and good versus evil that loosely parallels events of the American Civil War (1861–65).

This traveling exhibit includes 20 paintings, drawings and tracing, source materials, and one bound volume from the original manuscript. Come experience the show enhanced by the expert guidance of the Frye's docent.

Note: The Frye is offering this private tour with the docent reserved for us, so please honor your RSVP by attending at the indicated time. Thank you.

The museum is open till 5pm.
