SAO Guided FIeld Trip to Mount St. Helens :
Scott Burns, '69, MS '70, professor of geology at Portland State
University, will lead a tour covering the ecology, geography,
history and recovery of Mount St. Helens. Scott has led over 20
Stanford travel/study trips in the last 19 years. The trip will
include bus transportation, onboard presentations, stops at two
visitor centers, a 15-minute movie at the David Johnson Ridge
Visitor Center and several short hikes. We will picnic at
Weyerhaeuser's Forest Learning Center, so bring your own bag
lunch and beverage -- beer or wine if you like.
Details for Stanford Club of Washington from SAO:
If folks from your area would like to join our trip to Mt. Saint Helens, they
could meet us at the Visitor Center 5 miles from the I-5 Castle Rock exit on
Highway 504. That will be the first stop on the tour. There is plenty of
parking and they could join the bus there. The price would be reduced to $20.
Have people email me, Kristi Nelson, to reserve a place, indicating they will join us at the visitor center. Rendezvous time to be confirmed.
Thanks!
