Details The SCW has arranged for a guided tour of the latest exhibit at the Frye Art Museum. The exhibit features the RetroFuturistik Universe of NSK, art collective of Slovenia. Afterwards, you are invited to take a self-guided tour of Joseph Park's Moon Beam Caress. NSK is a collective of Slovene artists who address issues of national identity, authorship and representation with political, social, and economic forms of power creating provocative painting, music, and theater. NSK has operated at the intersection of art, politics, and history since 1984. The history of Slovenia is a key part of understanding NSK's artmaking. Slovenia has been buffeted by Eastern and Western influence over 800 years. Charlemagne's reign, Hapsburg empire, Yugoslavian state, an independent state, and now a member of the European Union. Please join us for a Sunday afternoon to learn more about these influences in the fascinating perspective of NSK art. Afterwards, take a self-guided tour of Joseph Park's Moon Beam Caress. This is a co-exhibit at the Frye well worth taking the time to view while you're there. His paintings are characterized by cinematic spaces and lush landscapes bathed in Technicolor hues. The museum is open till 5pm.
